Hours before the Union Budget was to be presented before the Parliament, a fire broke out today in one of the rooms in the building which was doused within 15 minutes, officials said.
No one was injured or any other damage was reported in the incident.
A UPS kept in one of the rooms of the Parliament House caught fire, sending plumes of smoke which alerted those present there, said Atul Garg, chief fire officer, Delhi Fire Services.
"We got a call regarding the incident around 8.55 p.m. At least 13 fire tenders were pressed into service which managed to douse the blaze by 9.35 p.m. No one injured in the fire and it also could not damage or harm the premises," the fire official said.
Senior officials of the fire department rushed to the spot to check about the severity of the blaze, police said.
