6 militants killed as security forces foil infiltration bid in Rampur sector of Kashmir

Security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Rampur sector of Jammu and Kashmir early morning hours on Saturday and killed four terrorists.

The Indian Army killed six intruding militants in Rampur sector in Jammu and Kashmir as it foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in early hours on Saturday. 

Troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC in Rampur sector in the early hours, an army official said. A firefight broke out between the militants and the Army after infiltrators were challenged by the alert troops on the Indian side of the LoC.

The firefight has resulted in the death of six militants so far, the official said.

Forces have cordoned off the area and search operation is underway to check for the presence of any other militant. 

Rampur sector is adjacent to the Uri sector where the Army on Friday foiled an attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) and killed two intruders.

A counter-insurgency operation that was launched in Pulwama district yesterday is still underway, ANI reported.

 

Three terrorists are reportedly holed-up in a house and the gunfight was on till late as security forces cordoned off the area around Saimooh village in Pulwama's Tral.

Forces launched the operation after terrorists attacked an Army patrol party on Friday.
