Army Search Operation Massive Army search op in Kashmir’s Baramulla after reports of terrorists

Security forces today launched cordon and search operations in north Kashmir’s Baramulla following information about movement of militants, four days after raids at suspected hideouts of ultras in the district led to the arrest of 44 people.

“Joint teams of Army and Police were conducting search operations at several places in Baramulla in view of inputs about movement of militants there during the intervening night,” an official said.

He said so far the security forces have not got any success but the operations were continuing.

On October 17, over 700 houses were searched in a span of 12 hours in an extensive search operation in old town in Baramulla during which 44 persons allegedly involved with terror related activities were apprehended.

The crackdown was a joint operation by the Army, the BSF, the CRPF and police in 10 localities, including Qazi Hamam, Ganai Hamam, Taweed Gunj and Jamia, considered safe havens for terrorists.

Possibly for the first time in Kashmir, security forces had recovered Chinese flags along with other incriminating material like petrol bombs, Pakistani flags, Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) letter head pads, unauthorized mobile phones and seditious anti-national publicity material.

Intelligence agencies have warned that at least 250 active terrorists from Pakistan-based terror groups are trying to target the Indian security forces in the Kashmir Valley to "avenge" the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army in PoK.
