The iconic Maruti Suzuki Gypsy has officially been discontinued after 33 years in production.
In an official email sent by Maruti Suzuki, the dealerships have been asked not to take any fresh bookings as there will not be any production or dispatches of the model.
It means that new units of the Gypsy will not arrive at any of the Maruti Suzuki dealerships across India.
Maruti Gypsy, the open top 4x4 has been the trusted weapon of choice for the Indian police and armed forces and the rally drivers.
Maruti Suzuki Gypsy was introduced in India for the first time in the year 1985 and it remained one of the longest-running production cars the country has ever seen.
Its price in India starts at Rs 6.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the vehicle was available in both soft top and hard top variants.
It was the third vehicle launched by the brand in the Indian market after the Maruti Suzuki SS80 (Maruti 800) and the Maruti Omni.
