Hindon airbase Man shot at, injured for trying to enter Hindon airbase

A man was shot at and injured, while attempting to scale the wall of the high-security Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Hindon on the outskirts of the national capital close to midnight on Tuesday, police said.

Sujeet, a 22-year-old man from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, tried to enter the airforce station at around 11 pm on Tuesday.

As he ignored the warnings by security personnel to stop, he was shot in the right leg in order to immobilise him. He was later given first aid before being sent to a hospital.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, an official said the airbase was on high alert due to some intelligence inputs about a possible terrorist attack. An IB alert has warned of a Pathankot-like attack on defence installations. Recent intelligence inputs said that Hindon airbase was at the target of terrorists.

Sources said it is being ascertained whether the man has links with terrorist outfits.
The man works as a daily wage labourer in Delhi and has been living in Anand Vihar for three years, sources said.

The security has been beefed up at the airbase and a heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
