Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis received two threat letters believed to be from Maoist organisations a week ago, sources in the state Home Department said today.
This comes after successful anti-naxal operations in two encounters in Gadchiroli recently, where at least 39 Maoists were killed by security forces.
"The letters came after the recent anti-Naxal operations in Gadchiroli, in which 39 Maoists were killed. The letters have been handed over to the police for further investigations," the sources said.
The letters were received by the chief minister's office a week ago, they said.

According to the ministry sources, both letters mentioned the Gadchiroli encounters, and threatened Fadnavis and his family members.
The successful operation in Gadchiroli came after the security forces landed an accurate tip-off well in advance about a proposed jungle meeting of around four dozen Maoists - catching the rebels virtually by surprise and little time to hit back.
The operation - the biggest in the anti-Maoist war since the past over 38 years - saw the elimination of at least four prominent commanders, and dealt a body blow to their rebellious activities in the district.
