Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, will be walking the ramp for a Pune-based fashion design institute at the New York Fashion Week.
According to a report in The Indian Express, Amruta will be the showstopper for Chasa Institute of Design and Technology at the New York Fashion Week, which is to be held on September 8 in Manhattan.
The event in which talent of young designers will be showcased, Amruta will spread the message of girls’ education and empowerment and also promote handlooms.
For the ramp walk, she will wear an Indio-western outfit designed by students, most of which are children of farmers and porters.

“I will be walking the ramp to spread the message of girls’ education as these designs have come from girl children who are daughters of farmers and porters. It is a novel initiative. I believe when we educate a girl child, we educate a family. And when the family is educated, the country moves ahead,” The Indian Express quoted Amruta as saying.
This is not the first time Amruta will be walking the ramp. She has earlier showcased tribal art and handloom with the help of designer Hemant Trivedi.
Meanwhile, Amruta is also planning to adopt a village in Nagpur, Sekri, for all-round development. She has already tied up with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to enhance education standards in all civic-run schools in Mumbai.
