Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the commuters travelling from Delhi to Noida will be able to use only four of the five lanes at the DND toll booth due to police checking at borders from Wednesday.
The DND has eight lanes for both incoming and outgoing traffic, out of which three of the Delhi-Noida lanes are being used by commuters travelling to Greater Noida via the DND loop in a U-turn.
People travelling from Noida to Delhi can continue to use all the eight lanes available to them.
The traffic police have also changed the positions of the two U-turns for people coming from either side, in order to avoid lining up of the vehicles at the toll plaza.
According to the traffic police, commuters travelling from Delhi in four wheelers will be able to use three lanes, while a lane on the extreme left will be reserved for the commuters travelling in two-wheelers.
The decision to make these changes comes after a trial run by the traffic police on Monday.
Commuters travelling from Delhi and looking to return to the capital can take a U-turn about 50 metres before the toll plaza.
Earlier, there was a U-turn closer to the toll booth but it has been pulled back towards the Delhi side in anticipation of the rush due to the vehicle-checking process.
