Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to embark a two-day visit to Kedarnath and Badrinath in Uttarakhand from Saturday. According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the prime minister will begin his tour by visiting the Kedarnath temple on Saturday, while he will offer prayers at the Badrinath temple on Sunday.
The development came after the Election Commission gave its nod to the prime minister to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines.
As the campaigning for the seventh phase ended on Friday, the poll panel is said to have reminded PM Narendra Modi that the model code of conduct is still in force.
As it is an official visit, the Election Commission has only "reminded" the PMO that the model code of conduct which came into force on March 10 with the declaration of Lok Sabha polls, is still in force, sources aware of the development said.
After offering prayers at the Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to return to Delhi Sunday afternoon.
Voting for the seventh phase (last phase) of the Lok Sabha polls will be held on Sunday, May 19.
The votes will be counted on the 23rd of this month.
