A major terrorist attack was averted in Bihar's Arrah on Thursday morning when the bomb went off accidentally in a lodge occupied by the perpetrators.
According to local sources, five suspected terrorists had come to Arrah from West Bengal with an intention of carrying out a major attack. But, their plans were thwarted when the bomb exploded unplanned inside their room at a lodge near Harkhen Bazaar.
One of the suspects was injured in the explosion, while four others managed to flee at the time of blast.
The police arrested the injured suspect and recovered a pistol and an Aadhaar card from him. The initial interrogation led to the arrest of the second suspect shortly after. Three terror suspects are still at large.
"Two people have been questioned. It was a country made bomb and probe is on," confirmed Sanjeev Kumar Singhal, ADG (HQ).
Earlier talking to media, Arrah SP Avkash Kumar said, "There were five people in the room. Their purpose can only be identified after an investigation. One Aadhaar card and pistol have been recovered from the room."
