The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday attacked Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad over alleged benami land deals, calling him the "Robert Vadra of Bihar".
"Lalu Prasad is the Robert Vadra of Bihar. Over 125 properties acquired by Lalu and his family fall under benami transactions. It is his (Lalu's) nature to give ministerial berths in return for land," Sushil Modi, senior BJP leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, said here at a press conference.
Taking a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Sushil Modi questioned why the JD-U President was silent on the issue and not taking action against Lalu and his family, despite two of the RJD chief's sons holding key positions in the state cabinet.
"On one hand Nitish says there is zero tolerance against corruption, but at the same time he is not acting against corruption cases taken up by the Income Tax officials," said Modi.
