A major fire broke out at department of pharmacy in Calcutta Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place at around 8am on the ground floor of the hospital.
Thick smoke reportedly engulfed the building and the patients reportedly jumped out of the windows to save themselves.
10 fire engines, and a team of Kolkata police officers have rushed to the spot.

Panic gripped the patients of the hospitals immediately after the news of fire spread.
According to reports, at least 250 people have been evacuated and they are being shifted to different blocks.

No casualties have been reported so far.
Firefighting operation are underway at the hospital.
"I have been told that patients have been evacuated. We are looking into the incident," Mayor Sovan Chattopadhyay said.
