Jharkhand government has announced bounty, running into crores, on as many as 212 naxals. It is for the first time that rewards have been announced together on more than 200 naxals.
80 of the 212 naxals are those against whom rewards were already announced earlier, but they have been included in the present list since two years' limit has come to an end.
The list of naxals was prepared by the police and then sent to state government for approval. It later got nod by Chief Minister Raghubar Das and was issued by the home department.
The move comes after an input received by police and state government claimed that 600 naxals were active in the state.
Reward of Rs 1 crore each was announced on five naxals-Prashant Bosh, Misir Besra , Ashim Mandal, Prayag Manjhi, Oongu Satwaji. Reward on other naxals varied from Rs 1 lakh to 25 lakh.
