According to latest election trends, Chirag Paswan of LJP was leading in Jamui while RLSP's Bhudeo Chaudhary was trailing, on Thursday.
Jamui Lok Sabha constituency
Jamui is one of the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar. It came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India which was constituted in 2002.
Key candidates:
Lok Jan Shakti Party’s Chirag Paswan, Bahujan Samaj Party’s Upendra Ravidas and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party’s Bhudeo Choudhary are the key candidates.
In the 2014 election, Chirag Kumar Paswan, son of Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan, won from the Jamui constituency. He defeated his closest rival Sudhansu Shekhar Bhaskar of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by a margin of 85947 votes.
Voter turnout in 2014 Lok Sabha election:
The constituency has seen a 55.26% voter turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
The constituency had seen a 50.01% voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha election.
The general election was held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. Counting of votes is underway and the results will be declared by the end of the day.
Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim were also held simultaneously with the general election.
