Jammu and Kashmir: One terrorist gunned down by security forces in Shopian

Reports suggest that two terrorists managed to flee the spot after firing upon the patrolling party, while one was neutralised by security forces in retaliatory fire.

The security forces on Sunday gunned down a terrorist who fired upon a joint motor vehicle patrolling party in Pinjoora area of Shopian district. The incident took place at 8 pm. 

Reports suggest that two terrorists managed to flee the spot after firing upon the patrolling party, while one was neutralised by security forces in retaliatory fire. 

The killed terrorist has been identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar and a weapon has been recovered from him. 

Indian Army said that the three over ground workers/ accomplices who were also accompanying the terrorist, were found dead. 

"Also the three over ground workers/accomplices in the car who were accompanying the terrorist were found to be dead. Police has reached the spot and started legal formalities," Indian Army's statement read.

While the army confirmed that the three slain persons were OGWs of militants, the police are yet to confirm their exact identity.

Locals, however, claimed that the three slain persons were civilians without any militant connections.

Earlier this week, the security forces had gunned down a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist in an encounter in Hajin area of Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora.
