Jammu and Kashmir: Two terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in Handwara

According to sources, Manan Wani was among the killed terrorists in Handwara. However, police and Army are yet to confirm his identity.

Two terrorists were killed by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

The encounter took place in Handwara of Kupwara district.

According to sources, Manan Wani was among the killed terrorists in Handwara. However, police and Army are yet to confirm his identity.  Manan Wani was a PHD scholar from Aligarh Muslim University. 

Arms and ammunitions have also been  recovered from the killed terrorists.

Earlier in the day, a Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured after terrorists opened fired at him in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

The incident took place in Pulwama district of the state.

Injured SPO Bilal Ahmad who was in Karimabad village of Pulwama has been shifted to a hospital, a police officer said.

Meanwhile, the security forces were engaged in a combing operation in Batgund village of Handwara tehsil in Kupwara following specific information about the presence of militants there.

All educational institutions in the area have been shut and mobile Internet service in the district was suspended as a precautionary measure, authorities said.
