The security forces gunned down two militants on Saturday morning in Jammu and Kashmir's capital Srinagar. The two ultras were killed after a gun fight with the security forces. There are reports of at least one of two more militants hiding in the region. The security forces have cordoned off the area and are carrying the search operation.
The operation is being jointly carried out by 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Srinagar Police.
The encounter, which took place despite heavy security cover due to Republic Day, is likely to raise red flags within the agencies.
