J-K: Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists gunned down in encounter in Shopian's Khudpora village, arms and ammunition recovered

Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in encounter between security forces in Shopian's Khudpora village on Saturday. The slain terrorists have been identified as Mohd Irfan Bhat and Shahid Mir.

The police commenced the search operation on Saturday evening following inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the search operation was going on, hiding terrorists fired on the search party. A couple of terrorists managed to escape from the site. Post-encounter, the police recovered two bodies from the site. The civilians in the nearby areas have been evacuated to safer places.

Mobile Internet was snapped in the area after the gunfight.

Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the instant matter for ascertaining the facts pertaining to terrorists hiding in the said house and other related matters to this incident.

Meanwhile, the police have requested civilians not to venture inside the encounter site since such an area can prove dangerous due to the presence of explosive materials. They also urged the people to cooperate with the police till the area is completely sanitised.
