Jammu and Kashmir: Door-to-door search operation launched in Pulwama, militants believed to be hiding

Minor clashes were reported between the security forces and the village's youths during the search operation.

A cordon and search operation was launched by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday. The security forces had received information about the presence of militant in Kareemabad village of the district after which the region was cordoned off. 

Security forces in large numbers are carrying out a door-to-door search operation to flush out the hiding militants, reports from the village said.

Meanwhile, minor clashes have erupted between the security forces and the village's youths during the search operation.

Earlier on May 18, three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The area was cordoned off after the exchange of fire took place. 

Security forces had received information about the presence of militants in Panzgam village of Awantipora, following which the gunfight between terrorists and troops of 130 Battalion CRPF, 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG) broke out.
