In a disturbing news from Kashmir valley, supporters of separatists on Tuesday stopped a group of bravehearts from hoisting tricolour at the Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

A group of three people reached Ghantaghar at Lal Chowk and tried to hoist the tricolour. All three were chanting “Vande Mataram”.

However, a group of shopkeepers and other local residents assembled there and stopped the three bravehearts from hoisting the Indian flag. The crowd thrashed two of the three bravehearts.

The security forces took the three men into custody to avoid any untoward incident. They were released later on.

Responding to the incident, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that preventing the hoisting of national flag is inconsequential as the respect for tricolour has gone up all across the world.
