Two unidentified militants were killed ON Friday in a shootout with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.
Security forces signalled a sports utility vehicle (SUV) to stop at Kraalhaar in Baramulla but the militants travelling in it opened fire at them, a police spokesman said.
He added the security forces retaliated and neutralised the two ultras.
A policeman was injured in the brief exchange of fire between the two sides, the spokesman said. The vehicle has been seized and its driver arrested, he added.
A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the scene of the gunbattle, the spokesman said.
The recoveries include one AK assault rife, two Chinese pistols, one UBGL, three hand grenades and two UBGL grenades, he added.
Meanwhile SSP, Barmaulla Imtiyaz Hussain said that two terrorists were killed earlier on Friday. "Two AK-47 rifles with Under Barrel Grenade Launcher attached to it, 3 grenades, 2 Chinese pistol & arms and ammunition recovered from the terrorists. We are trying to ascertain the identity of the terrorists", he stated.
