A terrrorist was arrested by the security forces on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district during a cordon and search operation. The joint search operation was launched by the Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and state police personnel in Humpora village.

Police identified the militant as Waqar Malik, who was carrying an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.

Earlier on Sunday, security forces gunned down three terrorists, involved in the abduction and murder of Constable Saleem Shah and recovered weapons from their possession.

Constable Mohammad Saleem Shah, who was on leave, was abducted by militants from his residence in Mutalhama area of Kulgam in south Kashmir on Friday. Shah's body was recovered from a nursery near Redwani Payeen village. The body bore severe injury marks, indicating that he was brutally tortured by the militants.

Shah had joined the services in 2016 and after completing his basic training, and was posted to DPL Pulwama.  The slain cop is survived by aged parents, two brothers and one sister and was the lone bread-earner for his family.
