It's done!, exclaimed Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday after farmer loans were waived off in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan as promised by the grand-poll party in its election manifestos.

The Congress snatched power from the BJP in all the three states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh – in the just-concluded Assembly elections.

"It's done!  Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh have waived farm loans. We asked for 10 days.  We did it in 2," Gandhi said in his tweet on Wednesday.

After assuming charge as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on December 17, Kamal Nath first signed files of farm loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh each.

Shortly after taking charge, Chhattisgarh CM  Bhupesh Baghel too issued orders to waive off farmers' agricultural loans.

According to Baghel, short-term agriculture loans to the tune of over Rs 6,100 crore of over 16.65 lakh farmers drawn from cooperative banks and Chhattisgarh Gramin Banks, as on November 30, 2018, will be completely waived. Besides, loans of farmers borrowed from commercial banks will also be waived after proper examination, he said.

Two days after being sworn in, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday waived short-term crop loans from cooperative banks and loans of up to Rs 2 lakh taken by farmers from other banks.
