New Delhi: Dreaded terror group Islamic State is making all efforts to make its presence felt in Jammu and Kashmir, where majority of population belongs to the minority group.
According to a report in Times of India, the outfit wants Kashmir under its caliphate rather than Pakistan or other militant outfits like the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The group believes in ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's caliphate as the final arbiter of Kashmir's fate, it reported while quoting the chats of ISIS militants from different countries, including India.
The latest findings are part of the charge-sheet filed by the NIA against Indian Oil assistant manager Mohammad Sirajuddin, 33, who was arrested in December 2015 for his inclination towards ISIS. The NIA has recently charged him for criminal conspiracy and maintained that the accused had a membership of a banned organisation while adding different sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
In one of the chats, Sirajuddin said that Kashmir should not be governed by Pakistan instead it should be under the Caliphate. He had even prepared a special currency for the ISIS regime in the Valley -- a Rs 20 denomination note saying “ISIS Welcome in Kashmir”.
Jundhulla Minaa, a UAE-based ISIS operative who Sirajuddin grew close to, claimed: "Kashmir is Kashmir IS... Kashmir will be Islamic State... Inshallah!!” the chat reads.
Sirajuddin had several times indicated that he wanted to go to Syria for training. And after training, he wanted to return to India only to launch the movement in a big way from Kashmir.
The transcripts of the chat also revealed that ISIS had celebrated the death of VHP leader Ashok Singhal, who passed away on November 17, 2015.
“Good News, Ashok Singhal is dead," the chart reads.
In its charge-sheet, the NIA had also mentioned that Sirajuddin was inciting others to become members of ISIS and indulged in anti-national activities through Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram.
Not only this, he was in touch with at least 6-7 women, including Ameena, a woman from Nairobi, whom he wanted to marry and travel with to Syria. Ameena, a maid based in the UAE, even travelled to Hyderabad sometime in September 2015 but the reason for the visit was not clear.
