An IPS officer, aspiring to enter the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), was arrested for cheating in UPSC main exam by using a bluetooth device.
Safeer Karim, a 2015 batch police officer was caught for using gadgets to communicate with his wife during his Civil Services main examination. Karim's wife, a visiting faculty at an IAS coaching centre, who was helping him has also been arrested from Hyderabad.
A police officer said being caught for cheating in exam will have a serious effect on Karim's career.
"Cases under Section 420 (cheating) and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) have been registered against the duo," a senior police official said.
Karim, an engineering graduate, who hails from Kerala, had also started a coaching institute for other UPSC aspirants.
The UPSC mains exams are currently being held at 24 cities across the country. As many as 763 candidates will be writing the exams which will be held till November 3.
