The Indian Army today inflicted "heavy damage" on at least four Pakistani Army posts, the Indian Army said today following reports of Pakistani Army violating the ceasefire in the Naushera sector in Jammu and Kashmir. One jawan of the Indian Army was martyred in Naushera Sector on Tuesday as Pakistani troops shelled Indian posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control.
“The nation lost it’s yet another jawan in the firing,” the Army said.
"Heavy damage to Pak Army posts. Exchange of fire continues. Own one Jawan fatal in Naushehra Sector," the Northern Command of Indian Army said in a tweet.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said India is "appropriately responding" to ceasefire violations.
"We are appropriately responding in the system we find befitting," the spokesperson said.
Over 100 ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side have taken place since the surgical strikes that India carried out on terror launch pads in the intervening night of September 28-29.
The worst-ever Pakistani shelling targeting civil population took place on November 1 when eight persons, including two children and four women, were killed and 22 others injured along the IB and the LoC in five sectors of J&K, forcing Indian troops to give befitting reply by destroying 14 Pakistani posts and killing two of their troopers.
