As per the initial reports, 30 to 35 militants were killed in the operation.
The strikes were carried out based on specific and credible information that militants were waiting to infiltrate and also had plans to target metro cities.
They entered 3 kms and exchange of fire began at 2:30am, ISPR said, and continued till 8:00am. “Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing on the LoC in Bhimber, Hotspring Kel and Lipa sectors,” he said.

The motive of this operation was to hit out at the terrorists who were planning to infiltrate into our territory, the DGMO added.
"Indian armed forces ready for any contingency. As of now we have no plans of further operations," he said.
"We can't allow terrorists to operate across the LoC, there has been a surge in infiltration," he said.
