New Delhi: Guruprasad Mohapatra, a 1986 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer hailing from Odisha, has been appointed chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI).
An MA in Political Science and M. Phil in Diplomacy (International Relations), alongwith an MBA degree, Mohapatra worked as municipal commissioner of Ahmedabad for three years.
He served as MD of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation and Transport Commissioner in that state. He also served as MD of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & chemicals Ltd, as collector of Junagadh and Rajkot, as Municipal Commissioner of Surat and also as Special Commissioner (Enforcement) in Sales Tax.
He was brought to the Centre as Joint Secretary in Commerce Ministry when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister.
