A Sukhoi-30MKI jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Rajasthan’s Barmer district today.
Both pilots of the jet ejected safely and are said to have sustained no injuries.
However, three villagers sustained minor injuries after the fighet jet crashed in Shivkar Kudla village. The kuchcha houses reportedly caught fire and fire brigade have rushed to the spot.
The aircraft was being used to carry out regular sorties.
Police and IAF teams have also reached at the spot.
The unfortunate accident took place at 2:45 pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Russia-made Sukhoi jets have a long history of accidents just like MiG series aircrafts.
In 2015, the then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that the IAF doesn`t intend to ground its fleet of Sukhoi SU-30MKI combat jets despite a sixth plane crashing in six year.
Very often, concerns have been raised over the accidents involving frontline fighter jet of the IAF.
The SU-30 fleet has in the past been grounded thrice after accidents.
