A news anchor on Saturday showed exemplary commitment towards her job when she read out the news of her husband’s death in a car accident.
According to the reports of The Telegraph, Supreet Kaur, news reader at Chhattisgarh’s private IBC-24 channel, during Saturday morning’s live news bulletin began reading out a peace about the car accident in Mahasamund district.
Furthermore, when Kaur went to the local reporter for more details, she was informed that three out of five people travelling in the vehicle died on the spot but didn’t reveal the name of the deceased.
The details given by the reporter including the route, the time and the car’s model was enough for Kaur to understand that her husband was one of the victims of the accident.
However, she kept calm during the conversation with reporter on air and went on reading the news for another 10 minutes. She broke down in tears, but only when the camera had stopped rolling.
According the police, Supreet’s husband, identified as Harshad Kawade was travelling in Renault Duster car when the vehicle was hit by a truck from behind.
“The damage to the vehicle was terrible, and three people died, with two others grievously injured,” an officer added.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Raman Singh also praised young woman for her courage and tweeted:
An editor at IBC 24 said, “As she read out the news, she found out that it was the vehicle her husband was to travel in, in that region on the same day. Even though the reporter on the ground did not give out names, the team could tell that she had found out. The production team also just found out, but couldn’t tell her as she was live on television.”
“It speaks volumes about her sense of duty and professionalism that she continued, and kept her calm for another ten minutes. The instant the cameras went off she began calling her relatives and broke down into tears. She left for the accident site after that,” the editor said.
28-year Kaur has been a news anchor with IBC-24 for the past nine years and had married Harsad Kawade only a year ago. The couple were residents of Raipur.
We express our heartfelt condolences to Supreet Kaur and salute her for the courage and professionalism that she showed.
