The 'mPassport Police App' was on Tuesday introduced in Karnal and Gurgaon police commissionerates to cut the time taken for verification of passport applications.
The newly developed 'mPassport App' would speed up the process of verification of passport applications, said Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) B S Sandhu.
The prescribed limit by the ministry of external affairs for police verification is 21 days, he said, adding that it had been brought down to nine days in Haryana.
The state is striving to further reduce it, Sandhu said.
The Haryana police has been adjudged one of the three best State/UT police based on the passport application verification data for the year 2017-2018, an official release of the ministry of external affairs said.
India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has awarded 'Certificate of Recognition' to Haryana, it added.
