Social activist Anna Hazare today said he favoured capital punishment to ministers who are found guilty of indulging in corruption. His statements come in the midst of a raging war within the AAP which is witnessing some serious allegations being levelled against the party supremo from its own members.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Anna said that ‘it is sad to see that founders of the anti-corruption movement were facing corruption charges’.
“Main hamesha hi bolta hoon, koi mantri bhrashtachaar ka doshi paaya jaaye use phaansi do (I have always said that if any minister is found guilty of corruption, he should be hanged),” the septuagenarian social crusader said.
When asked whether Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should step down and join probe, he replied, “he should resign as Delhi Chief Minister pending a probe. He should start a probe into his dealings.”
Yesterday, Anna had said that he was pained to see his former colleague in the anti-corruption crusade facing allegations of accepting money.
Sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra had on Sunday stirred up a political storm accusing Kejriwal of accepting Rs 2 crore in cash as bribe from Health Minister Satyendra Jain. He had even claimed that Jain had personally told him that he had settled a land deal for Kejriwal’s relative.
The ousted AAP minister continued his tirade today saying Jain had fixed a land deal for Kejriwal’s brother-in-law.
