Counting of votes for the Gurugram Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end, and according to the trends, Rao Inderjit Singh has registered a victory over his nearest rival Ajay Singh Yadav of Congress by 3.81 lakh votes.
The Gurugram Lok Sabha Constituency of Haryana state is currently held by Inderjit Singh Rao of BJP. In 2014, BJP's Inderjit Singh Rao (with 6,44,780 votes) defeated INLD's Zakir Hussain who secured 3,70,058 votes and Congress' Rao Dharam Pal who got 1,33,713 votes.
At the time of the previous Lok Sabha election in 2014, Gurgaon had 1,845,623 registered electors -- 984,370 of them male and 861,253 female. The constituency had seen a 71.55 per cent voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the sixth phase of the election -- on May 12 and recorded a voter turnout of 68.17 per cent.
The seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls 2019 covered a total of 543 constituencies. Voting in the first phase was conducted on April 11.
Simultaneous elections were held to the assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha -- the results for which will also be out today.
