New Delhi: Government plans to set up a regulatory structure to make 10 public and ten private educational institutions as world-class teaching and research institutions, Lok Sabha was told on Monday.
“There is a proposal to establish a regulatory architecture to enable ten public and ten private institutions to emerge as world-class teaching and research institutions,” human resource and development (HRD) minister Smriti Irani said during Question Hour.
The reply came when BJP member Uday Pratap Singh asked whether the government has identified or proposes to identify central universities or organisations that are likely to make their mark globally in the field of education and research.
The minister said the government has not yet allocated any funds for the proposal but will provide adequate support to assist 10 public institutions.
“The details of the same are being worked out including selection of the institutions,” he said.
