In a shocking piece of news, a four-year-old girl was crushed to death under the wheels of her school cab in east Delhi's Shakarpur area.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon when the cab driver had dropped the girl, identified as Anushka Ranjan, at her home but while reversing, he didn't realise that she was standing behind.
She sustained severe injuries in the accident and was taken to the hospital by the driver. But doctors declared the girl brought dead.
Police said that they have arrested the driver who has been identified as Mohit (30). The van had a private registration number.
Anushka studied in Universal Public School in Preet Vihar, police said, her father is an advocate. They family stays at G-Block in Shakarpur.
In August last year, a playschool student was crushed under a school van in the city’s Civil Lines.
Last year traffic police had booked 6,975 school vehicles during a drive conducted outside major schools in south and east Delhi.
