New Delhi: In an extremely unfortunate incident, a four-year old nursery girl succumbed to her injuries on Saturday after she fell off from the fourth of her building in Nalla Sopara, a Mumbai suburb.
Sarika Singh, daughter of a sweeper, lived in the Golden Palace building, Alkapuri. The incident occurred when she returned home from school on Friday evening and was climbing up the stairs of her building with a heavy school bag on her shoulder.
While on her way to the fourth floor, Sarika bumped into some of her neighbours at the third floor. Then, as she took stairs for the last floor, she leaned out of the passageway to have a look at the people downstairs.
Here, Singh lost her balance and the heavy school bag on her shoulder didn’t let her regain it and the four-year old fell off from the staircase.
Panicked residents rushed her to the Alliance Hospital and later shifted her to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, where she breathed her last.
Her father, Dara Singh Rajoria, was at work at the time of the accident, said Assistant Police Inspector Sudarshan Potdar of Tulinj police station.
“Sarika had three other siblings, two elder sisters and an elder brother,“ Potdar said. “The family stays in flat 405 and the building is a chawl.”
Remembering her, the neighbours said the girl was adored by all the residents of the locality.
