Foot overbridge collapses in Navi Mumbai: Two injured admitted to hospital
Barely weeks after Mumbai CST station bridge collapse which claimed several lives, another foot overbridge has reportedly collapsed in the city.
In yet another case of public apathy by civic bodies in Mumbai, a foot overbridge collapsed in Sagar Vihar of Navi Mumbai's Vashi area today. Parts of the bridge fell through during the evening hours, news agency ANI reported. The incident has left two people injured. They have been transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Regional Disaster Management Cell chief Santosh Kadam said two persons were injured as the FOB at Sagar Vihar crashed around 8 pm.
Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the spot and the injured were admitted to nearby hospital, he said.
The incident comes less than a month after a similar bridge collapse at Mumbai CST station, which had claimed lives of at least seven people.
Last month, the CST foot overbridge had collapsed, killing seven and injuring several others. In October of 2017, the foot-over bridge at the Elphinstone station had collapsed. 27 people were killed in the tragic incident.
