Flight operations at Delhi airport resumed on Sunday, minuted after they were they were temporarily suspended after a pilot reported about spotting a drone in the area. 

Sanjay Bhatia, Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, told IANS that "a drone-like object was reportedly seen flying near the Terminal 3.

"We are verifying it. But the operations at the airport continued as normal and there was no delay in arrival or departure of flights."

According to another police official, the drone-like object was spotted around 7.30 p.m. 

Earlier, a team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Delhi Police and the aviation security were rushed to the spot after getting report of the drone. 

All the three runways were temporarily shut down at the Delhi airport and several flights were diverted to other airports in the wake of the crisis. 

According to media reports, the airport security officials received an emergency call at the control room, saying that a suspected item has been in the cargo area. The area was later declared safe.

On August 2, the cargo area of the Delhi airport was cordoned off after a suspicious material was recovered by the authorities. It was later found that the suspicious material was actually spare parts of the Maruti make. Concluding the operation, the bomb squad declared it negative.
