Bengaluru: A five-year-old boy Lakshay P from Bengaluru went into coma during a surgery being conducted after he injured two of his fingers while playing at school on June 10.

After the incident, the school teacher called his family and informed Lakshay's father that his son had injured his fingers and required urgent medical intervention.

"I got a call from my son's school on June 10 that he has hurt his fingers. The school authorities asked me to come to Mallya Hospital as his condition was critical. When I went to the hospital, I saw his two fingers were damaged," the victim's father Purushottam said.

According to reports, the doctor at the hospital informed Lakshay’s father that one of the fingers of the child needed to be operated, while plastic surgery was required for the other finger.

“The hospital authorities demanded Rs. 60,000 and said the surgery needs to be done in six hours,” he told media.

According to the family, the boy was fine before he went into surgery. However, a few hours after the boy went into surgery, the doctors informed the family that the boy had a heart condition.

“Before the surgery, my son was fine. After few hours, doctors said Lakshay had some heart problem, we said he was fine,” Lakshay’s father said.

According to the family, it has been 10 days since the incident and the boy continues to be in a coma. “The hospital didn't call or even ask about my son," the father said.
