Five coaches of Kurla-Ambarnath local train derailed near Kalyan in the early hours of Thursday.
However, there are no reports of any injuries to passengers. The local train derailed between Kalyan and Vitthalwadi station at 5:53am.
Meanwhile the train services on Kalyan-Karjat route have been suspended. Restoration work is underway, officials said.
Notedly, this is the third case of train derailment in less than 40 days.
Yesterday, 14 coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer Express derailed near Rura staion in Kanpur Dehat district that left over 40 people injured.
On November 20, over 140 people were killed and more than 200 injured when 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna Express train derailed in Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh on November 20.
