A major fire broke out at Metro Hospital and Heart Institute in sector 12 of Noida on Thursday. The incident was reported from the third and fourth floors of the multi-storeyed building. Rescue teams were present at the spot as more than 20 people were trapped inside the hospital at the time of the incident.
About 30-35 patients were rescued and shifted to local hospitals, said Vaibhav Krishna, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Buddha Nagar. Six fire tenders were also present at the spot as efforts to douse flames continued.
Thick smoke could be seen billowing out of the building in Sector 12. People were standing on ledges in balconies as rescuers tried to reach them by breaking window panes.

"A fire has broken out in the Metro hospital. Rescue operations are underway," an official said.
Reason behind the fire was yet not known. There were no immediate reports of casualties, said officials.
According to the fire officer, the flames were later doused and the situation was brought under control.
