Exclusive | Only Ram temple should be constructed at disputed site in Ayodhya, says Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
In an exclusive interview to India TV, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that Muslims should give up their claim on the disputed land and gift it to Hindus for the construction of the Ram temple.
Spiritual guru and Art of Living (AOL) founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has categorically said that only a Ram temple should be constructed at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
In an exclusive interview to India TV, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that Muslims should give up their claim on the disputed land and gift it to Hindus for the construction of the Ram temple.
He pointed out that Ram temple is a matter of faith for 100 crore Hindus of India adding Ayodhya is not even a religious place for Muslims.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also reminded that a temple existed at the disputed site even in the past.
The AOL founder warned that if this dispute is not resolved, the situation in India will be similar to that in Syria.
Responding to a question on suggestions for the construction of a hospital at the disputed site, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that if Muslims can give up their claim on the disputed site for construction of a hospital, why can’t they do the same for the construction of a Ram temple.
“It’s nothing but sophistry,” he added.
Rejecting charges of him acting at the behest of PM Modi, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that the prime minister does not need his services as he can get a legislation passed in the Parliament the day his party has a majority in Rajya Sabha.
“But it’ll be a loss of face for Muslims. That’s why I’m trying for finding an amicable solution to the dispute,” Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said.
