An encounter is underway between security forces and terrorists in Palhalan area of Baramulla’s Pattan in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said security forces cordoned off the area for searches following reports about a group of terrorist hiding there. "When the cordon was tightened, the hiding militants fired at the security personnel triggering the encounter, which is still going on," a police officer said.
This comes a day after terrorists fired a few shots towards a CRPF camp in Awantipora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. "Militants fired a few shots at the CRPF camp at Panzgam in Awantipora area at 8.10 pm," a police official said. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
The Pakistani Army on Wednesday also violated ceasefire in Nowshera sector of the LoC in Rajouri district. "At around 7 pm using small arms, automatics and mortars they violated ceasefire. But our positions retaliated effectively and strongly," the sources added.
On Tuesday, two holed up LeT terrorists, involved in a failed terror bid on a CRPF camp, were killed in a nearly 30-hour-long gunfight.
The attempted terror bid on the CRPF camp came close on the heels of the Sunjuwan military camp attack, in which seven persons, including six soldiers and a civilian, were killed.
