Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday congratulated PM Narendra Modi on his re-election.
“Congratulations to @narendramodi on your re-election as Prime Minister of India. Let’s keep working together to improve the lives of Canadians and Indians through education & innovation, investing in trade, and fighting climate change,” tweeted Justin Trudeau.
Riding on the crest of the Modi wave, BJP dished out a grand performance in the country, halting the efforts of the fledgling 'mahagathbandhan' to challenge the saffron brigade.
The general election was held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. Counting of votes which started on Thursday, is still underway.
The 2019 elections attracted a turnout of over 67 per cent, the highest ever in the history of Indian general elections. The polls also witnessed highest recorded participation in Indian elections by women.
