Nellore: A 23- year old man was found to have a uterus which was subsequently removed by the doctors at a hospital in Andhra Pradesh’s Kuppam town.
In one of the rare cases, doctors removed uterus from man's body while examing him after he had come to the hospital complaining of hernia on Thursday
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, Amaresh,23, a farmworker and a native of Itukapalli village near Hosur in Tamil Nadu went to hospital at Kuppam on Tuesday night.
Next day, Dr Sudheer with his team examined him and was stunned to see an empty bag in the place of testicles and the patient confirmed that he had been that way since birth.
Speaking to the newspaper, Dr Sudheer said they were shocked when they found an uterus and even ovaries, like in a woman, but without the physiological functions of uterus or menstrual phases, ovaries had been doing the job of testicles.
The patient came to them when he was unable to bear severe pain in his right testicle, a common condition called Right Inguinal Hernia, told doctor Sudheer.
He further added, “We have removed the uterus and he can lead a normal life after marriage and have children too without any hassles.”
