Dense fog continues, 64 trains, 20 flights delayed due to low visibility

At least 64 trains, 20 domestic and international flights were delayed on Tuesday as a heavy blanket of fog engulfed the national capital region for the second consecutive day with the visibility dropping to 300 metres. 

The low visibility also led to the cancellation of 21 trains and six flights. 24 trains have also been rescheduled due to fog in several parts of northern India. 

"The sky will remain clear during during the day, with dense fog in the morning," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. 

The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average. 

Earlier on Monday operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport had been temporarily suspended in the wake of dense fog canopying the whole national capital region and the visibility dropping below 50 metres. Monday's maximum temperature settled at 20.1 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average while the minimum was recorded at 5.7 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average.
