A 20-year-old fashion designer's 'joyride' with friends turned deadly for a 50-year-old woman as she was crushed under the luxurious SUV being driven by the young woman in Delhi's Connaught Place area on Sunday (August 20) evening. The old woman's body was dragged for almost 500 metres before the police managed to stop the vehicle.
According to eye-witnesses, the woman driver identified as Shreya Agarwal, was speeding when she hit the elderly woman near Baba Kharak Singh Marg at about 8.30 pm.
Agarwal stopped for a while but sped off again in her black Jeep Compass SUV. People present at the spot gave the vehicle a chase signalling her to stop as the woman's body was stuck under the rear wheels of the SUV. But she refused to stop. Soon, a police patrol too joined the chase.
Agarwal first tried to flee from the spot after the police managed to stop her. She was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and later released on bail.
