Delhi woke up to a sunny, yet cold morning on Thursday as the chill in the air continues, MeT officials said, adding the minimum temperature was recorded five notches below the average at 9 degrees Celsius.
"The maximum temperature is expected to reach 26 degrees Celsius, a notch below the normal," they said. The humidity levels was recorded at 84 per cent. The MeT has predicted a clear sky during the day.
"The sky will remain clear throughout the day," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
At 8.30 a.m., the humidity was recorded at 84 per cent.
On Wednesday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average, while the maximum settled at 24.5 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average.
Earlier on Sunday, Director at private weather forecasting agency Skymet, Mahesh Palawat, had said the national capital will face an extended winter season till March 6 due to the cold winds.
The major reason behind the prolonged winter this season was frequent and intense western disturbances, he had said.
However, he added that this is the last cold spell of the season.
The city had faced similar kind of weather on March 2, 2015 when the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 19 degree Celsius and 16 degree Celsius, respectively.
