At least 25 train arrivals in Delhi were delayed by two to six hours on Wednesday due to dense fog in several parts of northern India. Twenty-one north bound trains including Mahabodhi Express, Lichchvi Express, Brahmputra Mail, Rewa Express, Shiv Ganga Express and Vikramshila Express were running late due to bad weather conditions, Northern Railways said.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius as rains in the region led to a dip in mercury, the Met said, as the national capital woke up to a cold and cloudy morning.
The city received 27.8 mm rains till 8.30 AM, an official of the Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Commenting on the weather conditions, the official said, "The sky will remain partly cloudy throughout the day with chances of light rain or thundershowers.”
The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 100 per cent. Visibility in Safdarjung area at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 100 metres while in the Palam area the visibility at 7.30 a.m. was recorded at 100 metres.
The city recorded 27.8 mm rain in the last 24 hours.
The overall air quality here continued to be 'moderate’, with the air quality index (AQI) being 99, the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) said.
Partly cloudy skies with possibility of very light rains and thundershowers are forecast for later part of the day, while the maximum temperature is likely to hover to be around 19 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 19.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average, while the minimum was 12.5 around five notches above normal.
