A 48-year-old shopkeeper in Delhi was arrested for allegedly storing 256 kilogram of firecrackers, police said on Sunday, adding he had stored the firecrackers without permission to earn heavy profit.
The accused, Dal Chand had kept the firecrackers at his house in West Delhi's Raghubir Nagar without a licence, police said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) Monika Bhardwaj, the station house officers (SHOs) of west district have been directed to ensure no illegal crackers are sold in the area.
A raid was conducted following which the police were informed about the illegal custody of the firecrackers in a residential area, she said.
